Volume Analysis Explained
Learn how volume can confirm or weaken a crypto futures signal.
Activity over a stated interval
Volume measures traded activity, not guaranteed buying pressure. A trade has a buyer and seller. Base-asset volume and quote volume are different units; this scanner displays quote volume in USDT for its 24-hour comparisons.
An apples-to-apples comparison
A completed 15-minute candle trading 3 million USDT versus a typical 1 million USDT shows three times the chosen baseline. A candle only five minutes old is not directly comparable to a completed 15-minute candle. Define whether your baseline is a mean or median.
Combine volume and structure
A breakout with increased volume shows participation, but can still fail. Watch whether price holds beyond the level or returns into the prior range. Large 24-hour volume can reflect activity many hours ago, so it is not proof of a current burst.
Compare turnover with liquidity
Hypothetical worked example. Two contracts can each show 10 million USDT in daily quote volume while offering very different order-book depth at the moment you trade. Past turnover does not tell you the average fill price for your order.
How much does volume affect the score?
A hypothetical 1 million USDT quote volume contributes about 21.6 points; 10 million contributes about 25.2. The logarithm compresses large differences and the contribution is capped at 30.
Verify the assumptions
Check the input window, fees and data availability before applying this example. For the exact software behavior and coverage limits, read the scanner methodology. Examples explain arithmetic and interpretation; they are not historical performance claims.
