Multi-Timeframe RSI Analysis

FuturesRadar Academy • Practical market guide • Not financial advice

Learn why comparing RSI across multiple timeframes can improve market context.

This guide is educational only. It is not a recommendation to buy, sell, long or short any asset. Crypto futures involve high risk.

Different windows answer different questions

A 15-minute RSI reflects a shorter sequence of price changes than an hourly RSI using the same period. Readings can disagree without either being incorrect. The higher interval can provide context while a lower interval describes short-term momentum.

A mixed reading

Suppose hourly RSI is 62 and 15-minute RSI is 38. That may describe a short-term pullback within a stronger recent hourly move. It does not guarantee a recovery. Inspect price levels and wait for a defined confirmation if your method requires one.

Match calculations first

This scanner uses a 14-change rolling calculation on 15-minute closes. When comparing with another platform, match smoothing method and whether the last candle is closed. Do not reinterpret its 15-minute value as a 5-minute or hourly signal.

Separate the time windows

Hypothetical worked example. A 15-minute RSI of 74 can coexist with an hourly RSI of 56. Four 15-minute candles contribute to one hourly candle, but an hourly RSI is not the average of their RSI values. Each calculation uses its own sequence of closes.

Can I infer an hourly confirmation here?

No. The scanner calculates its RSI on 15-minute closes. Use a separate chart with the same method to inspect another timeframe rather than relabeling the scanner value.

Verify the assumptions

Check the input window, fees and data availability before applying this example. For the exact software behavior and coverage limits, read the scanner methodology. Examples explain arithmetic and interpretation; they are not historical performance claims.
